How do I hang my backdrop?
Unroll the backdrop onto a clean swept floor, and look for labels on the underside of the drop labeled ‘top’ or ‘bottom.’Set up uprights to desired width. Using A-Clamps or Pony Clamps, clamp the backdrop to the horizontal cross bar, and raise the crossbar to the desired height. Once height is achieved, adjust the clamps to smooth out any wrinkles. All rentals include six small backdrop clips that attach from the vertical uprights to the backdrop to help remove unevenness or wrinkles if necessary. Look for pamphlet within the clip pouch for further instructions.
To take down the backdrop, use three people to carefully lower it on to the floor (two people lowering, while the third person lifts the bottom of the drop to avoid wrinkles).
Please only use a two inch margin around the entire edge of the backdrop for securing, and do not clamp, staple, tape or adhere to any other area of the backdrop. Folding or wrapping a backdrop using more than a 2 in. margin will create permanent creases and make the backdrop unusable in the future.
What are the instructions for returning the backdrop?
After laying the backdrop image side up on a clean floor, gently sweep or blow any dirt off of the canvas before rolling it. Using two to three people, tape the edge of the drop to the tube (using only painters or gaffer tape), and begin rolling the canvas. As you roll, make sure no wrinkles occur and no dirt from the floor gets rolled up with it. Once rolled, use additional tape to secure. Never tape onto the image/ painted side of the backdrop.
How do I best care for the backdrop during the rental?
Backdrops are fragile and are subject to scratches, tears and unintentional wrinkles. Please avoid sharp objects or abrasive materials on the backdrops, and be cautious with high heels if the model is standing on the sweep. When using A clamps (or pony clamps), please insure that the rubber sleeves aren’t missing. Damage fees will incur for obvious marks.
